Terms of Use

These terms apply to your use of The Dubai Expat Guide website and to your purchase of access to the guide. By using the site or buying the guide, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. “We”, “us” and “our” mean The Dubai Expat Guide.

1. What you are buying

The Dubai Expat Guide is a digital guide delivered as a web application. A purchase gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and read the guide through your own account, for as long as we continue to operate the service.

It is a one-time payment. There is no subscription and nothing renews.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for anything that happens under your account. Your account is for you (and, if you are moving as a couple or family, your household). You may not share, resell or publicly post your login.

We may suspend or close an account that is used in breach of these terms, including for systematic copying or redistribution of the content.

3. Payment

Payments are processed by our reseller and merchant of record, who handles the transaction, your card details and any applicable sales tax or VAT. Their own terms also apply to the payment. Prices are shown in US dollars and may change, but a change never affects a purchase you have already made.

4. Refunds

Because the guide is digital content and your access begins immediately after payment, all purchases are final and are not refundable, except where the law of your country requires otherwise. Free articles are available on the site so you can judge whether the guide suits you before buying.

If you are charged in error, for example charged twice, contact us at hello@dubaiexpatguide.com and we will put it right.

5. General information, not professional advice

The guide is general information, written from our own experience and research, to help you plan a move to Dubai. It is not legal, tax, financial, immigration, medical or other professional advice, and it does not create any professional relationship between us.

Rules, fees and processes in the UAE change, sometimes without notice. We name the authorities we draw on and date each article, but we cannot guarantee that everything is complete, current or correct for your circumstances. Before acting on anything consequential, confirm it with the relevant authority or a qualified professional.

6. Intellectual property

All content on the site and in the guide, including text, checklists, graphics and design, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by copyright. You may read it and print or save parts of it for your own personal use. You may not copy, republish, sell, distribute or create derivative works from it, or use it to train automated systems, without our written permission.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • scrape, crawl or bulk-download the content;
  • attempt to get around the paywall or access parts of the service you have not paid for;
  • interfere with the security or operation of the site, or use it for anything unlawful.

8. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the site available at all times but cannot promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may update, reorganise or improve the guide’s content over time. We may also update these terms; the date at the top of this page shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site or the guide, including any decision you make about moving to, living in or leaving the UAE. Where our liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the guide.

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.

10. Third-party links

The guide links to government portals, service providers and other websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability or practices. A link is not an endorsement.

No paid placement. The guide is funded only by the people who buy it. No company pays to be mentioned, recommended or linked, and the guide contains no affiliate or referral links.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Emirate of Dubai and the federal laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of Dubai have jurisdiction over any dispute, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.

12. Contact
